Isomac Millennium troubleshooting

Hello again!

so, I finally bought a re-serviced Isomac millenium machine but have run into an issue. when I turn ON the machine, the steam pressure goes to the extreme limit (max side) immediately and water starts to come from the drain. this is accompanied by a loud humming sound. any clues as to what might be causing this?
Since I’m new to e61 machines, any help or suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks!

I think it's the vacuum breaker that is stuck. If you open the steam wand does it loses pressure immediately and then function normally after that?

I didn't watch the movie. But now i did. Strange. I must think a bit.

Do you have guarantee? I mean he should have noticed
No guarantee as such but, when I tried out the machine there, it didn’t have any issues. Don’t know what went wrong. The only thing I did after getting the machine was to backflush it. Anyway, I have been in touch with him and he suspects that the pump needs to be replaced.
Maybe I will try it again tomorrow to see if it works.

My guess is that the water level sensor is not working, so the autofill doesn't know when to stop filling the boiler and instead water is routed to the drain by the over pressure valve to protect the boiler.

The humming noise sounds normal for a vibratory pump.

You could check the level sensor for limescale, although perhaps it's better just to have the tech have a look at it considering that you might have grounding issues.

Yes, if I’m unable to get it to work again tomorrow, then I’ll have it checked.

If I keep it switched off for a few days, will it be okay if the water level stabilizes or does the sensor need to be replaced?

Do you think that it could have happened during transporting the machine?
Sure, something could've come loose by vibration during transport. This video explains what to check for:

(newer machine, but it works the same way)

Well, except that there are more connections in your Isomac. Check the green and yellow wires* and their connections and if it looks good make sure your probe isn't covered in scale or by a tube.

*in the diagram, actual color may differ.

I think Jonken is right. It overfills the the boiler.
If the boiler is immediately overfilling (due to faulty water level sensor) when turned on from a cold state, water should not be pouring out through the OPV and into the drain. Water would be leaking out of the top of the boiler through the vacuum breaker, unless the latter is also stuck closed I suppose…

Thanks! I will check this out.

I didn’t find any leaks inside the machine as such.
